Last Saturday I took the 3 older boys on a short day trip to celebration park on the Snake River while Lynn and Atticus rested. It was good to get out exploring Idaho again. It's been tough getting out with Lynn being pregnant and me trying to finish my book. The Snake River is one of the most captivating and mysterious rivers I've run across. It can be magnificient and depressing at the same time.
On the way home, we stopped at Barnes and Noble for some Curious George loving and face painting.
I can't say enough about how much I love being able to get into the incredible landscape of Idaho with very little hassle.
Check out the video of the drive home. Perkins' can't sing, but we love music!
Atticus Grey Perkins arrived at 11:34pm July 20th 2008. He was 8lbs. and 20 inches. We were blessed with a water birth which helped Lynn's back considerably. Gideon was a trooper and withstood mom's pain, but decided 'he shouldn't be in the room while Mom is using those bad words'. Lynn will give more details at her blog. Click on the picture to see more photos of the birth and such. A nice bonus was that we were the first ones to use the Treasure Valley Midwives new facility.
Gideon was ready to go the midwives pronto to see his new baby.
A good walk speeds up labor.
Amy came and helped take care of Gid until the big pushing moment. They are buds.
We highly recommend water birth. It saved Lynn a ton of back pain.

Now, for old times sake, check out this picture of Isaac at birth ans see if he and Atticus don't look a whole lot alike.
Lynn can go at anytime now. Early labor signs are beginning to pile up and reality is getting closer.
I've felt this pregnancy has been much harder emotionally for Lynn and I as I have not had the time/energy to really focus on her and the coming new life. As I a graduate student I could allot my time as appropriate between family and work. My time is much less my own these days and I find myself struggling to create space for 'things that are necessary to maintain a sane life' and 'things that are necessary to enjoy life'. Often the two are one and the same, but we as a family are in another period of growth and with that growth comes changes in lifestyle and focus. I expect that to take some time with a newborn.
