First, check out Lynn's blog if you haven't already for updates from her. The move is a bit harder for her than for me. The move has taken her away from the friends and family that she has known her whole life. It's not easy for anyone. I feel partly guilty for any sadness on her part or her friends and family. I know the move here was the correct decision for us, but it doesn't ease the pain of moving. We know in time God will bring more new things and friendsfor us here, but it will take time. Kindred spirits in Boise, that is what we want. I know they are out there.
We are on Skype with video capabilities. Skype allows you to call anyone free and with video capabilities. We use a cheap $1 webcam and it works well. The reliability of Skype is better than Yahoo or others we've tried. Email me and I'll let you know our contact name. Let's talk!
Saturday I took Gideon and Isaac early in the morning to see the Spirit of Boise hot air balloon festival. Some thirty ballons took to the air and had a revelry in the sky. It was quite an event and one we are sure to return to each year.

First, recent pictures of Cindy's (lynn's mom) visit with us are on Flickr. She was a force and got our house in manageable shape. We'd still be living in boxes if not for her.
Idaho summers are great. The day may get a little warm, but 90 degrees with no humidity is sooo much better than 80 degrees with humidity. And, by 7pm it has cooled down and the weather is perfect for biking or whatever. The sun is up until 10:30 or so. Sleeping temperature is perfect at 65C, if we could open our windows and cool the second story down. Oh well, one of the grievances of an older home.
Father's day was great. Lynn and the boys made me breakfast, gave me a set of portable Ipod speakers, and Neil Young's Heart of Gold DVD, a recent performance at the Ryman where he played Prairie Wind for the first time and a bunch of older stuff. In the evening Lynn let me go off for my first mountain bike ride in Idaho. I'd been looking forward to it for a long time, and it was worth it. The terrain here is so different than Georgia where you deal with roots, rocks, mud, and trees. Here in the foothills of Boise it is sand, lots of climbing, great smooth runs, and open land. At first it was dissappointing with the lack of forest scenery, but I'm slowly beginning to appreciate the desert landscape. My eye is not yet trained to see the beauty in the various birds, brushes, and the way the land is shaped. I'm going to try to do all the trails in the Ridges to Rivernetwork. It's soooo nice to be able to leave the house, get a good 5 mile ride in, and be back at the house in just 2 hours time.
