So I had my 30th birthday yesterday. I was more emotional than I had thought I would be. I was thinking, "Okay I"m now thirty, have a great wife, three kids, an almost PhD, and a job I love that pays well, what comes after this." I would have been content doing nothing on my 30th, but I got to do a few fun things. Gideon wanted to go to the Boise State men's basketball game with me and our neighbor Zach. That was a good time, although Gideon was more enthralled with the cheerleaders and decided he wanted to be a 'he' cheerleader.
Lynn made me a yummy German chocolate cake and a thai noodle dinner. I then opened a pretty kicking birthday present from my parents. I'm really skeptical of off-the shelf flying toys, but this mini indoor helicopter really does fly well and is a blast. It fills that flying urge temporarily since I don't have time/money for RC electric sailplanes anymore.
My parents celebrated with me from long-distance by making and decorating a cake in Perkins' style.
The best part of turning thirty has been being married almost 7 years. The chart pretty much sums up how things have been in the marriage department for the past month or so as we approach our 7 year anniversary. Lynn has been part of a Bible study at the Vineyard which has really freed her emotionally/spiritually in ways I hadn't expected but am extremely grateful for.

So is the lady behind and to the left of Lynn in the picture one of those that could have been on the chart in the blue line category?
Posted by: Cindy at February 9, 2007 7:35 AMWhat comes next? More kids!! But that's up to you guys, and Lynn's back. I'm sure there's a wonderful Chinese girl that would love to have three rowdy brothers! And of course your marriage has gotten better! Lynn looks awesome! Whatta hot chick you married! I just thought I'd agree with your thoughts on the picture, the thoughts you didn't write down (wink wink)
Posted by: katiek at February 9, 2007 9:50 AMYeah, I can't remember if Lynn was trying to imitate the lady or not.
And what is the old man doing in the background?
Posted by: andyp at February 9, 2007 10:28 AMHappy 30th Andy! We were only born 4 days apart. Hang in there, we're praying for you guys to stay healthy and push through till the end of march! Miss you guys.
