I think we should all hold Andy accountable to making a Keg Racer for the boys when his PhD is finished.
Posted by: lynnp at January 14, 2007 1:28 PMIt depends on the beer...
Posted by: K at January 15, 2007 9:59 AMOh, Karen, are you a beer snob, TOO?
That's the kind of invention that makes the PhD worth while, IMO. Put a glorified potato gun on the list of things to do postPhD, also.
And really, I think if you are going to make the keg racer, you need to make two of them. What good is a keg racer if you can't race it? Why not make 2008 the First Annual Boise KegFest?
I bet you could make a pretty sweet raft out of 'em, too. Oh, there's a book to be written: 101 uses for an empty keg
Posted by: willa at January 15, 2007 10:05 AMI just feel that if Andy is going to put all that work into building this thing, then he needs to be rewarded with something worth the trouble.... and it should be stout.
Andy's not too far removed from his OPC roots to appreciate the theology here.

Posted by: bobw at January 15, 2007 3:43 PMYes... Newcastle would be more than acceptable.
Posted by: K at January 15, 2007 4:55 PMI move to instate the Newcastle suggestion. With an addendum stating names of those snobs who will join me in emptying the kegs. Do I have a second to the motion?
Posted by: lynnp at January 15, 2007 7:50 PMOh I'll second the Newcastle motion! It's one of the three or four beers I enjoy. My introduction to beer came from beer snobs. I'll be right over to help you guys out.
Posted by: melissa at January 16, 2007 12:26 PMOh, you're all missing out on the light-hearted delights of a cold Corona!
Posted by: willa at January 16, 2007 3:35 PMLook guys, your missing the whole point. I don't care what kind beer it is, it's the keg that matters. Has anybody done any research into the structural integrity of Newcastle's kegs? You can't assume they all come in the same brand of keg.
Are talking steel? Aluminum? Oh, better yet, copper! I think a copper keg racer would catch the eye. Get me some data folks. I need Young's modulus, fracture strength, yield points, coefficients of kinetic and static friction. I need numbers! Numbers!
Posted by: andyp at January 16, 2007 8:50 PMi hope the beer sold in the keg with the best structural integrity is a good one....
Posted by: melissa at January 16, 2007 10:58 PMAndy, after a keg of Newcastle I'm pretty sure we could convince you of the structural integrity of just about anything...
